These are Homefield's Week 5 rankings for the games of Oct. 8–12. They use four weeks of usage (Weeks 1–4, including Monday night's Falcons at Saints), 2025 usage and efficiency as a prior, and the injury picture as of 8:00 a.m. CT Wednesday, Oct. 7. Buccaneers at Cowboys opens the week Thursday night, Eagles at Jaguars kicks off at 8:30 a.m. CT Sunday, and Bills at Rams closes it Monday night. Carolina and Kansas City are on bye, so their players are off the weekly boards and stay in rest of season. Wednesday injury designations are early. Final game statuses come out Friday, so check them before lineups lock.

The biggest situation this week is in Baltimore. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Monday that the Ravens think Lamar Jackson (ankle) will miss a week or two, with an outside chance he starts Sunday night in Atlanta. Tyler Huntley is ranked as the Week 5 starter, and Jackson is listed as a contingency at the bottom of the QB table. Ravens pass catchers take a small efficiency discount with a backup starting, the same one Chicago's got last week. Philadelphia put Tank Bigsby on injured reserve Tuesday (per the Eagles), with Saquon Barkley (hamstring) questionable, so the Eagles' backfield work is redistributed among the healthy backs. Tyreek Hill is still an unsigned free agent (per ESPN), so he isn't ranked anywhere until he signs and has a return timeline.

Every rank here is Homefield's own. We didn't use any outlet's rankings or consensus, and we didn't adjust toward them. Outside sources supplied facts only: schedules, injury designations, rostered percentages, play-by-play and reported team news. They're credited in the data note at the bottom.

Top five in PPR flex: Puka Nacua (WR, LA), Bijan Robinson (RB, ATL), Jahmyr Gibbs (RB, DET), Amon-Ra St. Brown (WR, DET), Jaxon Smith-Njigba (WR, SEA).

How we built these

  • Opportunity first. Weekly projections start from each player's per-game targets, carries, air yards and red-zone and goal-line opportunities, weighting Week 4 most (Weeks 1–4 at 15/20/30/35). Where a player has a real 2025 sample, last season's usage is blended in lightly for the weekly board and more heavily for rest of season.
  • Small samples are regressed. For players with a real 2025 season, 2026 target share (and carry share for backs) is blended toward the 2025 share. Team pass and rush volume is blended toward the 2025 team rate, so four games don't set the whole role. At QB, 2025 attempts, rushing, yards per attempt and TD rate carry roughly six games' worth of weight for rest of season and two for the weekly board.
  • Injury-shortened games. If a player on this week's injury report played under 60% of his usual snap share in a game, that game is left out of his usage rates so an early exit doesn't read as a lost role.
  • Production check. Model output is blended with each player's actual fantasy points per game in 2026 and 2025, at about half weight for QBs and a third for everyone else, so regression doesn't flatten established producers. Players stepping into a newly vacated role are left out of this blend, because their past production understates the new job.
  • Efficiency is regressed. Catch rate, yards per target, yards per carry, and a QB's yards per attempt, TD rate and INT rate are pulled toward 2025–26 league rates for the position until the sample is big enough. Touchdowns come from where the player gets the ball (inside the 5, inside the 20, elsewhere), not from last week's box score.
  • Soft matchup tilt. Each Week 5 opponent's fantasy points allowed to the position over four weeks moves a projection by no more than ±12%.
  • Availability. ESPN's injury designation and estimated return date set an availability discount. Players who played in Week 4 and are now sidelined have part of their workload passed to teammates. Players ruled out, or projected by ESPN to be out, for Week 5 drop off the weekly boards but stay in rest of season with those games removed.
  • Formats. PPR = 1 point per catch. Half-PPR = 0.5. Standard = 0. TE Premium = PPR with tight end catches worth 1.5 (the extra 0.5 applies to TEs only). QB scoring everywhere: 4 per passing TD, 0.04 per passing yard, −2 per INT. DST and K use standard scoring.
  • Uncertainty. Four games is still a thin sample. Players ranked close together are close calls, so use the notes to break ties for your league.

Known timelines worth repeating: Baker Mayfield (thumb) is out, with an ESPN estimated return of Oct. 25, so Jalon Daniels stays Tampa Bay's starter; Caleb Williams (hamstring) is out, with an ESPN estimated return of Oct. 18, so Tyson Bagent is ranked as Chicago's Week 5 starter and Williams stays in rest of season; Marcus Mariota (knee) is doubtful, while Jayden Daniels (elbow) is questionable with an ESPN estimated return of Oct. 11, so Daniels is ranked as Washington's starter with Athan Kaliakmanis as the contingency; De'Von Achane (ACL) is on injured reserve and out for the season (per ESPN and MiamiDolphins.com); Josh Jacobs remains on the Commissioner's Exempt List (per ESPN and nflverse roster data), so he isn't ranked this week or rest of season; Jaxson Dart (knee) is on injured reserve (per ESPN), so Jameis Winston starts for the Giants. Jayden Daniels (elbow, questionable) is ranked as his team's Week 5 starter based on ESPN's estimated return dates. Where a backup would start instead, he is listed at the bottom of the QB table.

Quarterbacks (shared across formats)

Rankings use attempts, yards per attempt, TD and INT rates (regressed), rushing volume, red-zone rushing and the opponent's fantasy points allowed to QBs. SF is the QB's rank in the PPR superflex pool (QB, RB, WR and TE combined).

PPR rank first, then Half-PPR, Standard and TEP (TE Premium) ranks. Within the position, TE Premium rewards catch volume, so high-target, short-area tight ends gain on touchdown-dependent ones.

Defense / special teams (shared across formats)

Carolina and Kansas City are on bye, so 30 defenses are ranked. The model blends each defense's sacks, takeaways and points allowed per game with the opponent's sacks taken, giveaways and scoring, then maps the expected points allowed onto standard DST scoring tiers. Rostered % is ESPN percentOwned.

Superflex QB placement (PPR superflex rank): Josh Allen 2 · Matthew Stafford 5 · Jared Goff 6 · Joe Burrow 16 · Jacoby Brissett 19 · Dak Prescott 20 · Brock Purdy 21 · Drake Maye 28 · Trevor Lawrence 29 · Aaron Rodgers 30 · Deshaun Watson 31 · Tyler Shough 32 · Jalen Hurts 33 · Bo Nix 36 · Jordan Love 37 · Justin Herbert 42. Because QB scoring is the same in every format, a QB's superflex rank moves only a few spots between formats.

Rest-of-season top 200

This covers Weeks 5–18. Rest-of-season value blends 2026 usage with 2025 usage (the 2026 share grows as games are played), removes bye weeks and games ESPN projects a player to miss, and applies a light strength-of-schedule tilt. Players are ordered by value over a 12-team replacement level (QB13, RB31, WR41, TE13), so the list mixes positions the way a 1QB draft room would.

Movers. The Move column flags anyone who moved 10 or more spots in that format versus last week's final rest-of-season list (the Sunday, Oct. 4 update), and New marks players who weren't in last week's top 200. Biggest PPR risers: T.J. Hockenson (TE, MIN), 171 to 98; Kyle Monangai (RB, CHI), 136 to 65; Carnell Tate (WR, TEN), 91 to 35; Isaiah Likely (TE, NYG), 109 to 55; Romeo Doubs (WR, NE), 132 to 89; Colston Loveland (TE, CHI), 149 to 107. Biggest PPR fallers: Malik Willis (QB, MIA), 112 to 186; Lamar Jackson (QB, BAL), 96 to 149; Kenyon Sadiq (TE, NYJ), 97 to 138; Kalif Raymond (WR, CHI), 113 to 151; Josh Downs (WR, IND), 74 to 110; Ted Hurst III (WR, TB), 162 to 191. Most moves come from a fourth week of usage and from new injuries and timelines.

Data note

Weekly and rest-of-season projections are Homefield's own, built by the Homefield Desk on Homefield's opportunity-first projection framework. Play-by-play for 2026 Weeks 1–4 (all 64 games, including Monday night's ATL at NO) and for the 2025 regular season comes from nflverse (nflfastR play-by-play via nflverse-data). Snap shares come from nflverse snap counts (sourced from Pro Football Reference). Player IDs and current teams come from nflverse players and 2026 roster files. Targets, air yards, target share and red-zone opportunities (plays inside the opponent's 20) are derived from that play-by-play. The Week 5 schedule and rest-of-season bye weeks come from the nflverse schedule and were checked against ESPN's public NFL scoreboard. Roster status, including Commissioner's Exempt List designations, comes from nflverse 2026 roster data and ESPN player news. Injury designations and estimated return dates come from ESPN's public NFL injury report and fantasy player feed, pulled 8:00 a.m. CT Wednesday, Oct. 7. Rostered percentages are ESPN percentOwned (default league settings) from the same pull. Reported team news is used as facts only and credited where it appears: Baltimore's expected Week 5 quarterback situation (NFL Network's Ian Rapoport), Tank Bigsby's move to injured reserve (PhiladelphiaEagles.com) and Tyreek Hill's unsigned free-agent status (ESPN). No outlet's rankings, projections or consensus were used. Homefield advises; you set your lineup.
